I love stories. Hearing someone's story over a steaming cup of coffee is one of my favorite ways to spend my time. I believe everyone has one and that each story is full of beauty and adventure and redemption and grace. I also believe that we each have been given one wild and precious life and this blog is a little glimpse into my story and my heart.
The Dominican Republic is home for me. The people stole my heart in 2007 the very first time I set foot on its soil. Now I live here and in the deepest parts of my heart, I know God created me for this place. I long for restoration and to see Dominicans come to a true understanding of the love of God.
The World Race rocked my world. If you spend even just a little time around me, you'll probably hear countless stories (sorry in advance), but I truly am passionate about the race and I think everyone should go. I spent 4 months in Cambodia, Thailand, India, and Atlanta serving with ministries that are fighting against human trafficking. I came home even more wrecked for those in the sex industry and with a deeper understanding of who the Lord created me to be.
My heart beats to see my generation awakened to who they are as sons and daughters of God. I believe we each have a voice and that God has immeasurably more for us than we could ever ask or imagine.
I want to spend my days fighting for freedom. Not only freedom from injustice, but also freedom for our hearts because I believe we were made for so much more. For "then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32)
I love coffee and books and good conversations involving both. I love celebrations and birthdays and making people feel special. I love baking and pumpkin chocolate chip bread and seeing something delicious come out of a few ingredients thrown together. I love snow and journals and coffee mugs and maps. I love creating and designing and encouraging. I love mail and handmade cards. I love my family and friends and time spent with them. I love deep questions that make you think and traveling and finding joy in the seemingly insignificant.
I love the Lord and the Gospel and I pray that these words all point towards the One who gave me this one wild and precious life.
